The Hebron Music and Arts Festival along with the Hebron Business Association is offering a $1000 scholarship for a Lakewood High School senior who is pursuing a degree in the area of Music Education and/or Performance and a $1000 scholarship for a Lakewood High School senior who is pursuing a degree in the area of Visual Arts. Awards are made at the discretion of the Scholarship Committee. These awards may cover the costs of tuition, fees and books and will be distributed directly to the student’s college of choice.
Applicants must complete the following application, obtain letters of recommendation, submit the required written essays and will be expected to do a five minute demonstration or presentation in the area of their choice.
Notification of the scholarship winners will be announced during Senior Awards Night at Lakewood High School.

You must have 2 letters of recommendations submitted from persons other than a relative who can speak to your character, qualities, and career aspirations. Strong letters have specific examples of your strengths. The letter must be typed, signed and dated and include the person’s name, title, address, phone number, and relationship to the applicant. Give the recommender several weeks notice to write the letter. All letters must be received by April 1, 2010.

On a separate sheet of paper, submit a list and short description of activities, honors, awards, etc.
in school, church, employment, community, or other endeavors, which attest to your leadership and creativity. Include dates of involvement.On a separate sheet of paper, write a paragraph or two explaining your educational and professional goals.
On a separate sheet of paper, write a personal essay, approximately 500 words, that gives reviewers additional insight about you not covered in other sections of this application. Examples might be life or job experiences, special skills, talents, or your motivation for seeking a scholarship.
Answer the following questions:
How will you use this scholarship and your education to impact the community in which you will teach/work/live/etc?
Who inside or outside of your family has been a major influence in your decision to go into your area for the fine arts and why?
What do you do in your spare time?
In your opinion, what is the purpose of music and art?

If you are a winner of a scholarship your name and picture may be used in promotional items for the Hebron Music and Arts Festival. You will be asked to provide a picture and bio for this use.
